I have had a Borla on my '89 for several years and am looking for a better way to support the center pipe where it passes down the middle of the car (ie near the shifter area). The original parts and instructions with the Borla were great except for that one spot. Various things I've tried either leave it too loose and it occasionally knocks around in the tunnel area, or too tight and it tends to chew up the gasket at the end of the Y-pipe.

Anybody got pics of a successful center support for their Borla?

I replaced the hourglass shaped rubber bushings that came with the Borla system with 1" long sections of 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" diameter fiber reinforced nylon hose. I drilled a 1/4" hole for 10mm bolts to protrude from opposite sides of the tube for the attachments. They can be oriented to let the piping move with the motor mounts, but be rigid from side to side to prevent the resonator from touching the sides of the tunnel. These homemade bushings last approximately 5 years and are incredibly cheap to replace.

I remember that the resonator/tunnel area is the only place where Borla supplied their own hardware rather than use the Ford hangers/etc.....but don't have their stuff anymore. I have been using a regular u-clamp with one leg attached via some old shock bushings. Not satisfactory because it restricts front/back movement. Do you have a pic of your fix?
