I'm considering the billet wheels and thought I could throw those on with it for boost drop.
Jordan had them on the stock turbos and said numerous times, they are not worth it.

I ran them on my car and gained absolutely nothing. The claims they make are unfounded.

Ran what, billet wheels or the turbosmart wastegates?

*edit, I just read SM105 quote. I assuming your speaking about the billet wheels.

Any reason why they don't work on this platform? I have done billet wheels on an R56 cooper S and an Evo with great results.

Jordan will have more insight to that question.

It's because they are a wheel replacement not a wheel and compressor housing replacement. Sucks air from the exact same size hole and the fins are like a mm taller. All you really get is a barely lighter material. The biggest restriction on the stock turbos is the exhaust housing so despite having less rotating mass (barely at that) the turbine can't spin any faster anyways so you just end up with the same boost levels. After you spend money on the wheels and then having the turbos balanced you may as well had just given me the money for my rebuild

You wouldn't happen to have logs from back then would you?
I would like a 'turn it to 11' tune at like 17-18psi commanded without having to get the upgraded HPFP or turbos. Not a every day tune, just a tune for looking good at the track.

By the way, that white truck was ******** and getting!
I just looked I think it was only 18 psi. I can send you the log from the first race in that video 12.095?

You guys PM me your email I'll email it to you. So as my recollection says, I never logged this 18 psi race tune until I got to the track. And when I got there I couldn't find the damn correct config file so I made my own which I forgot to add some things. But you're welcome to check it out

From that log you held 17psi fine. The turbos didn't show signs of tapering at higher rpms. There was surging though.
I think your IAT was configured in Celcius. I converted the given number on excel and it made a lot more sense. Ambient was 50F while IAT was 40 dropping to 24 which would be odd. Unless you convert then it's 104F dropping to 73F. Sounds right if you had to sit in a staging lane.

Well I drove it 3 hours to the track and I let it sit for 45 min, but the staging lanes were packed as well.

Yeah there are some odd things being logged and big-ticket things missing. So I would bet you're right. But had the info I wanted to see.

From your log, It looks like the turbos are not keeping us from going above 15psi. Maybe its fueling.

What is your DA and are you going off dragy, track slips or some other timing app? I have pretty much same mods as you. Mine gets to 18psi in 4th gear and slowly tapers down to 17, but the first three gears are usually around 16 and taper down to 14ish by the time it shifts.

I ran a 12.04 or 12.05 on dragy full weight when it was mid 40's outside, DA was -400 something. This weekend at the track it ran 12.04 with passenger and rear seats removed, but it was in the 80's and the DA was 2500.

Whose tune do you run at the track?
