Blender Door

I have a 93 ATX that is not getting heat. I have tested the Tstat and it is working fine, plus the car does seem to get up to temp. For that matter after idling for 1/2 hour I still get little to no heat. I checked my water pump and everything is in good working order. I felt the inlet and outlet hoses on my heater core and both are similar in heat, one slightly cooler than the other, but both are quite warm after idling for 15 minutes plus. I also ran by EATC codes and got a bad "In car temp sensor" code so I stole this sensor from my 94 MTX and no I get no faulty codes. My coolant system is full and has not lost any coolant in the last 3 weeks. I am puzzled why I have no heat!

Someone suggested checking to see if my blender door is stuck in a position that would not allow me to get good heat to my car. Can anyone tell me how I test this and how I get back to the blender door to fix my problem?

Read this SHOTimes article on how to perform the EATC self-test to see if it gives you any trouble codes.

Also check fuse #17, when that blows it will leave the blend door in it's last position.

Thanks. I actually have the EATC test procedures already, that is how I knew there was a bad in car temp sensor. I ran this test again after replacing the sensor from my parts car and it flashed the 888 - meaning it did not find any problems anymore.

I will check fuse 17. In case that fuse is okay and I need to get back to the blender door do you know where I can get instructions on fixing/replacing the blender door? Also can you tell me where the blender door is located. I know there is a large door behind the glove box that is vacuum actuated but I assumed that door was for circulating exterior air into the interior of the car. Just in case though I pushed it closed for a period of time and it made no temp difference to the air coming out of my vents. Thanks for any info you can give.

A couple of people have done the blend door and have documented how they did it, if you do a quick search of the forum for "blend door" you should find them. Be prepared for a PITA, you'll need to pull the dash.

unplug the in car sensor and see if it has heat,also if the heater is partially plugged both hoses could be hot and still get little or no heat so try power flushing the heater core

Thanks. I have a feeling you are probably right on the heater core. I believe the previous owner used some sort of stop leak and that could have caused poor flow. I do get some heat in the car but it is only after it has been running for a very long time (over 15 minutes) and it is not HOT heat, just warm. Why would unplugging the in car temp sensor give me heat all of a sudden? Like I said I replaced it out of my other parts SHO after getting this error code and have never had the code come up since?!
