Blend motor HELP

I am in the process of replacing the blend door actuator. Will someone please tell me that I don't need to remove the dash to do it. If I do, that is fine but if I don't have to then I don't want to.
The car will not blow hot air anymore and I can't hear the door opening anymore. Maybe if someone has any other advice on the subject.

Before assuming that a "no-heat" problem is the blend door, be sure you check for coolant flow through the core. Feel both lines under the hood and make sure that they are both hot and are of approximately the same temperature.

Yes, you do have to pull the dash to replace the BDA.

Before you do, read back on some recent posts regarding the blend door.

IIRC, a blown fuse can cause the same symptom. #17 for 1st gen SHOs.

Use the SEARCH feature.

thanks for the info. i started to pull the dash and ended up stopping for two reasons. One was that the dash was hanin up on something on the driver's side of the car ( i removed all bolts and dropped steering column, didn't pull speedocable because there was slack not did I pull any wires (??should I??), and second, when someone broke my windshield, I guess there was glass still on the top of the dash so three stitches later and some superglue eek! shrug , i will continue in the morning.

you don't have to remove the dash, but you have to loosten it enough to get to the blend door actuator, it's a PITA, but it is doable. you have to pull it back about 12-18 inches or so.

so i replaced the BDA and still not luck, won't budge. check fuses and low and behold...blown....replace fuse....still nothing. I was doing some looking around trying to pinpoint the problem and found that one of the wires going to the A/C Field Coil was broken. Could that cause the BDA to stop working? I haven't ran another diagnostic so I don't know if it will catch this problem or not.

HELP!!!!

I thought I read on here that you could access the BDA from the DIN slots that the radio and cup holder are in. Wouldn't that save tons of time and aggrivation? Is it even possible?
