Blend Door Problem

So, when I turn on my defrost or something that involves the car heating or cooling air(which doens't do well cause of bad a/c stuff) I will get this really nasty grinding like sound. When I do the self test on the eatc, I get an error 02, according to SHOTimes, this is a blend door problem. Can anyone help describe what this is to me? Can I fix it myself?

Isthe "grinding noise" coming from inside the dash, roughly below the center of the base of the winshield, near the firewall?

If so, the blend door actuator is the likely problem (as also indicated by your "02" EATC test result).

It can be fixed by anyone who is not afraid of pulling the dash back onto the seat. Plan on a minimum of 8-10 hours if you have never done this before. I've pulled a few of these dashes so far, the last BDA replacement I did took me about 6 hours.

What does the actual actuator cost? Does take the dash out make it so time consuming?

The BDA costs areound $50-55.

Yes, there a is a lot to pulling the dash back to gain access to the BDA.
