No heat, so I unbolted the actuator and turned the car on while it was still plugged in to see if the plastic arm would start turning on it so I'd know if that was the issue. It did not. Simple enough, so I went and bought a new one. Plugged that actuator in and it doesn't do anything either when I adjust the temperature. Is there a fuse or anything that controls the actuator? My blend door moves freely and I can stick my hand in there to move the door and get hot air, so I just need the damn actuator to actually do it's job again. Anyone ran across this? Faulty part maybe?

Well shit, I took the old actuator apart and hooked some wires to it. I can get the motor to turn if I touch certain connectors, so it looks as if the actuator is good. I'll check power at that connector in the car real quick. There has to be a power issue there.

Fixed! Put the new actuator back in, did that self test through the climate control, cleared all codes, and now it's fine.

Yeah, I had similar issues, except the new blend door crapped out. I put the old one back in, but only works intermediately. If it acts up all I do is hit flr + off, then def.

Can you get to the actuator without taking the dash off its mounts and lifting it up?
If you can, then at least Ford learned that much during the evolution of the Taurus.

If the problem comes back...I had the same issue awhile back. I heard a clicking noise when adjusting temp control. I tried a new blend door motor/actuator too, and it didn't fix it. It ended up being the climate control module. Its mounted near the actuator. Its a little PITA to get to. They are no longer avalable from a dealer and they used to sell for $400+. Went to the local pic and pull and pulled one from a junker. It doesn't have to be a SHO taurus, just EATC. (the football control type) . Pic and pull only charged me $10 for it. Works great for months now.
