Bleeding brakes

Has anyone tried rigging up a tool that will allow complete bleeding of ABS brakes by activating the ABS pump?

I bought a little electrical box from Thexton.com that will do the bleeding for around $130. Once in a blue moon they come up on e-bay (none now). There is also a guy on the forum that sells the actual Rotunda units.

That said, I think it would be pretty simple to make something yourself if you just knew the pinouts.

I have the Ford-Rotunda ABS bleeder units available for $75./each +shipping (I think there are 3-4 left at the moment).
These are used stand-alone for ABS pump bleeding, and if you're doing ABS diagnostics with a BOB this is the adapter that will connect the BOB to the ABS wiring harness.

I know the pinouts. I have the Helm and the EVTM manuals. What I don't know is how the tool works. If I knew this, I'd build one myself. How do you like the Thexton unit?

What would shipping to Canada cost? I'm really interested in the Rotunda unit. Does it come with a manual?

Send your postal code to [email protected] for an exact quote. Paypal or USPS/international money order by mail would be fine. (Our bank charges a $4. processing fee for Canadian checks/MO)

These are directly from closed Ford dealerships. Most have been used, but are in excellent condition and work perfectly.
Instructions for the bleeding procedure are on the unit itself, and also in the factory service manuals. It's very easy, very user-friendly, buttons and switches are clearly marked, etc.
Instructions for diagnostics with a BOB are also in the factory service manuals....I can send instructions if you don't have a manual (also have factory service manuals available (original CDs and book form)).

FWIW, I have a Thexton box and all it really does is open the valves in the ABS so that when you bleed the system you also bleed through the pump. Otherwise if you have wet or contaminated fluid and you bleed the lines and calipers, the next time the ABS activates it'll pump old fluid back into the system. Using this little Thexton box lets you bleed the lines and the ABS, but you still do the bleeding just as you would normally.
