I'm considering (not now) switching my interior to black leather (I have titanium leather). I'm wondering how hard it is to paint interior plastic pieces with an interior paint, find decent seats, probably a floor rug too, and get a new headliner (Btw, I have the moonroof, any difference, or just cut a hole out?). What sort of costs am I looking at? This is after the alternator, paint job, clear corners, bla bla bla :D

Hey Pat,i just did exactly that last winter. My interior used to be mocha, and now you`ve seen,it`s all black.I`ll break it down for you.
$50 for the paint/dye(i can give you specifics)
$30 to relign headliner(use you existing one)
$90 for new carpet
$100 was my cost for full leather seats f&r
Except for the door sills(which i now have a fix for),the paint/dye has not worn at all,not even on the doors or arm rest.It holds up 100%,and not one person has noticed it`s not original, the black color matches factory black parts exactly. The only thing i`d suggest you may want to buy is black heat/ac vents, but they should be $5 at a junkyard,or i can actually get you some to save you a trip for cheap.Shoot me a mail someday and i`ll go over to Buffalo and show you how to do it all when your ready. It`s the best thing i`ve ever done to my SHO,i love the black color.
EDIT:$10 for a black steering wheel,i forgot :) I can get one of those too.

Hey sounds good! I've got to build up some funding, take care of a few other matters, and I'll drop you an email. Sounds pretty cheap too, considering I was guessing $100-150 for the seats.

I'm in the process of buying full black interior for my 95 with mocha. Then I'll be the only 95 green SHO with black interior. thumbs_u

You can remove your painted, yes its paint, seat color with paint remover. Then use a good leather dye. First dye the seats dark brown. Then dye them black. Don't start out with black dye as it will look odd, its just the nature of dyeing. If you really do use dye, which is how leather is supposed to be colored, your seats will be able to breathe and accept leather conditioner. Use leather conditioner after dyeing, and about every 6 months. They will outlast you and won't crack if you do.

Hey jt, I'm looking for a '93 black center console. Obviously a rare piece to find. Is it a tough job to paint one that's a different color? It would go into my '92 w/ already black interior.

Absolutely no,it`s just as easy to paint as any other part. The key is the right products, and i have found paints, dye`s specifically made for this, not at an autoparts store, but a supplier. It isn`t cheap ricer stuff, and the black matches real black pieces perfectly.Like i said,i`ve dyed almost everything in the interior, including the center console. The armrest on teh console and doors have not worn one bit.Ask either Beth or Kirk, neither could tell the interior was originally mocha.
