Mine went bad as a result of my alternator putting out too much voltage.

I took mine apart and was able to repair it by replacing the MOV (metal oxide varsitor). MOV's are commonly used a surge protection in power bars. When the voltage spikes and exceeds the MOV's rated voltage, it will return the extra power through the neutral or common.

They can only handle so many thousand spikes before they go bad, and when they go bad, they short out completely, which is what is causing your radio fuse to keep blowing.
