Jose can't you just locate a local alt. rebuilder and change some of the internals to get the amps up a little?

Ya it'll handle it without a problem. The 140amp alternator in a stock ATX is more then enough. You have to look at other cars and see that most put much smaller alternators in them. I run over 2000 watts with a stock alternator and a 5 farad power cap. You can pickup caps for under $100 brand new. Send me a private message for a website that sells them at dirt cheap prices (like $40 for a 1 farad one and $60 for a 3 farad). Under 1000 watts I don't see a need to have a cap. Stock alternator should be just fine. If you start to have issues with your lights dimming, etc, then add a cap.
Ok thanks. I will keep an eye on it and if he gets some pulsing I'll hit you up for that website.

I have tried several local alternantor rebuild shops and they all say the same thing, NO, they cannot not do anything to better the output.

I have been seaching the web for hi performance, and every alternator that has more that 90 amps, and is listed as a MTX SHO replacement has been misclassified.

I have called cincysho, but so far they have not returned my calls.

Try this place OEM Electric 859-431-0043. They rebuilt the starter for my SHO and seemed to know what they were doing. I don't know if they can up the output or not but it is worth a try.

I thought it was a 140amp in the '93 ATX? Mine in the car and the one from the space engine both tested at 140amps at 2 different shops. Very strange. Wasn't there a slight difference in amperage between the years of ATX's?
