Jose can't you just locate a local alt. rebuilder and change some of the internals to get the amps up a little?

The 140amp alternator in a stock ATX is more then enough. You have to look at other cars and see that most put much smaller alternators in them. I run over 2000 watts with a stock alternator and a 5 farad power cap. You can pickup caps for under $100 brand new. Send me a private message for a website that sells them at dirt cheap prices (like $40 for a 1 farad one and $60 for a 3 farad). Under 1000 watts I don't see a need to have a cap. Stock alternator should be just fine. If you start to have issues with your lights dimming, etc, then add a cap.
