Luna goes in for some warranty work next week. On the list are the following:

- Replace front struts
- Replace water pump
- replace timing chain
- replace camshaft sprockets
- replace camshaft sensors

Is there anything else that I should have done while these are dealt with? They are also doing a rear axle/PTU service.

Thanks Kryptto.....Yeah, I figured that. The coolant I'm assuming will get replaced as part of the water pump replacement. They are doing the PTU fluid, but I'm not sure about the transmission. I did have that done around 20k miles several years back.

As for brakes, yes I should do that. On my Lexus LS460 and BMW 745 I had it done regularly.

Every 30K, however - doing all that work....

"This is the 5 quart out and 5 quart in method. Use Mercon LV. The 6f55 transmission in our SHO's like clean fluid. The trans is a sealed unit so you cannot service the filter like other trans. So to keep the fluid clean, I trans fluid cycle. I do it every oil change. I am under the car, and trans fluid is dirt cheap. Pull the trans plug and roughly 5 quarts will come out. Measure and add back the 5 quarts of new Mercon LV fluid. If you do this 5 times, you will have roughly 90 percent newer fluid. Then swap every other oil change."

Make sure they use the specified Motorcraft Yellow coolant. Others coolants may meet the spec but, Motorcraft is OEM and you'll be sure it's compatible.

All done. They did not change out the brake fluid. They stated that the brake bleeder on one of the calipers was seized and rather than introduce other issues by trying to get around it (heating it etc), they would leave it for any future brake work. I'm pretty ok with that because I know I replaced the fluid a couple of years ago when I had some other brake work done.

Grand total: 3723.00 (Canadian) so about $2725.00 US

Ouch.

Interesting sidenote (for me), is that my AC is blowing way cooler and with higher volume than ever before. The lack of cooling is something I've been chasing for years now. I wonder what was corrected? Reset of the HVAC system computer? Something in the AC plumbing that was corrected when they had the engine apart? Whatever it is, I am driving a new car all over again.

in home AC - as freon goes low it gets colder and will freeze the core solid... so just throwing that out there.
