Do you have a 3.2L (ATX) or a 3.0L (MTX)? The tensioners are entirely different. The 3.2L has a spring loaded tensioner pulley for the single, long belt. The spring is designed to provide the proper tension to the belt (Gates K060854 or Goodyear 4060850).

The 3.0L has two belts and manual tensioners. You have to loosen the 14mm bolt on the tensioner pulley a half turn and then turn the 5mm Allen head screw CW to tension and CCW to detension the belt. The PS and water pump belt tensioner screw is easily reachable only with the dedicated 18" long T-handled Allen wrench. After the correct tension is set (enough to allow the A/C compressor not to squeak the belt when it engages). Retorque the 14mm bolt 25-37 lb-ft.

Bad bearings don't squeal only when the A/C compressor engages. That is the function of the properly tensioned belt.
