OK, the PS and WP belt shreaded itslef today (almost didn't make it home, but it was ok). I was set to replace them all next week, so this is ok timing for me.

But since I am doing to be replacing all the belts next week, what else should I go ahead and do since all this is coming off? I'm putting a new PS pump in (sick of the wounded bobcat sound), and it has a new WP, so that is not an option. I also just got a Intake manifold off Ebay ($31) and replacing that too. Since that is coming off, I'll be doing the plugs and wires then too.

How hard is it to rip out all related A/C stuff? I know I will hove to get a smaller belt for it, bu that's ok. I'm thinking of getting a UDP since I'll be in that area anyway. Do those require different belts?

Any related remarked would be helpful. Thnaks.

EDIT: Also will be doing hoses too...ALso. I'm at 170K with close to no clue to prior servicing, but I have no idea how to do a 60K service myself.

a) AC... Per excellent advice from Mark N to me a couple of years ago... leave the AC compressor in place, as it acts as a strengthener for the front engine mount assembly / alternator area. Remove the guts & pulley if necessary, but leave the housing. You'll need about a 42.0 or so belt for that delete.
b) UDPs DO require a different belt size. Unless SHO Shop got them in today, they're out of UDPs currently. They were expected in "any day" when I called last Friday & again Tuesday.

PS pump's going to be fun. Enjoy.

Well, since I have now slept on it, I'm just going to put the belts back on for now. This is my only driver, so I can't be without it forever. I think I am just going to get all the stuff together that I want, then do it.

we will see what happens then.

To replace the water pump, you should remove the timing belt first to prevent getting coolant on the belt. Might as well replace the belt with a new one for about $35 (Gates T248, RockAuto.com) rather than reinstall the old one.

Scott, could you send me the instuctions on the 60K that you have? Alot of people rave about you and could use some help. I'm just putting the belts back on until I have all the stuff for the 60K and other retaled stuff (UDP mainly)...

Thanks.
