When I bought the SHO a little over a year ago I noticed the belly pan missing hardware on one mounting point. No twist lock and no capture hardware in the frame.
I thought no big deal I'll just buy another hardware set from Ford. Wrong! Not available unless, of course, you buy the entire belly pan. I was creative for a while using cable ties but was annoying to put back together every time I serviced my car. Here's what I come up with. The only thing I had to purchase was an expansion nut 1/4"-20 x 3/4. I got it at Ace hardware for $1.20 Everything else I had in my garage.
Here is the complete set up.
Stuff from garage.
1/4"-20x1-1/2 stainless hex bolt with 1/4" flat washer.
Nylon spacers to mimic the height of oem spacer.
1/2" flat washer to prevent collar of expansion nut from being drawn into square opening of frame rail.
I used anti seize on threads.
Here it is ready for install.
To install I inserted expansion nut into frame. With a little up pressure tightened bolt until the rubber mushrooms inside frame. I was surprised at how strong this setup held the pan in place. I will see how long this last.
