Just recently (when listening for it), as I'm shifting gears, I can hear the tranny making noise each time I shift into the next gear. The TOB on the car is bad. Will a bad TOB cause this noise? Shifting isn't affected but the noise is annoying. I don't even bother driving it while its "cool" out. I'll be replacing the clutch soon if that matters. . .

Is it a whine when you switch gears? If you, then you're hearing your synchros work, which generally speaking isn't a good thing.

Did you ever find that fill plug?

If its in 2nd and 3rd gear for instance and its a faint whine as your accelerating then thats pretty normal. Any sho ive had that i put alluminum subframe bushings on and reinforced motor mounts on elevated the noise. If its really loud of happening in a different time then id agree with the above post.

every MTX SHO i have driven has had some low noise like you discribe.
like greenbean said if you have solid MM or alsfb's it will make it a little worse.
but unless your haveing trouble shifting i wouldent worrie about it.

My transmission have been doing all kind of little noises at lower rpm and when shifting since the day I bought it, and I've put down 9000 miles this summer with the car, and no problem at all.
