I asked the machine shop at a local technical high school to bore out one of the spare sets of cores I had laying around to 40mm. They were
happy to do it since it is good experience for the kids there and it didnt cost me nothing. I could have completed the project for $0 but I didnt
want to skimp and go with stock plates. Since I was going through the trouble I wanted to make them right, so I ordered these plates that fit
from a weber 40 DCOE carb for $28 from here --->

I had to grind down the shafts to accept the new plates and I also had to grind the stops down just a touch for them to close perfectly. Now
that I know they are functional i'm gonna take em back apart and clean em up so they'll be ready for powdercoat once my intake is complete.
I'm planning on porting and polishing an extra set of runners next. Here are a bunch of pics with the new ones vs stock.
