I got my intake and took the butterflies off. My question is, what is the cheapest set of BBB that you can buy? Quality but, cheap. Midwest has them for $189.00 but I have to pay core and shipping too. Is it cheaper to have them machined locally and then just get some bigger plates from a carburator to put in there?

I bought both sets of my BBBs for under $100, first time from Kurt when he had his first group buy (he now makes the Midwest ones) and I just got a set from Brian for about the same price.

Thanks Kurt and Brian!

Yea, read that. I just want to know what would be cheapest and still get the same result. If I go with a machine shop, there is that cost then +$28 for the plates and then what not for shipping.

I asked the machine shop at a local technical high school to bore out one of the spare sets of cores I had laying around to 40mm. They were
happy to do it since it is good experience for the kids there and it didnt cost me nothing. I could have completed the project for $0 but I didnt
want to skimp and go with stock plates. Since I was going through the trouble I wanted to make them right, so I ordered these plates that fit
from a weber 40 DCOE carb for $28 from here ---> [email protected]
I had to grind down the shafts to accept the new plates and I also had to grind the stops down just a touch for them to close perfectly. Now
that I know they are functional i'm gonna take em back apart and clean em up so they'll be ready for powdercoat once my intake is complete.
I'm planning on porting and polishing an extra set of runners next. Here are a bunch of pics with the new ones vs stock.
