Battery issue or something bigger?

I have a really weird problem with my car the when was accelerating last night my light out light came on, only when im accelerating though and if i accelerate really fast my heater shuts off also. Idk if its an electrical issue or just the battery/alternator because ive never had the battery light come on.

Check your belt. Sounds like it might be slipping.

+1 on the belt. If that's not it, it sounds like your alternator isn't workin' right.

Belt was fine, might be the alternator, but over the last week its been leaking oil pretty bad,possibly from the head gasket. i didnt have much time to look at it so its parked for two weeks till i go back home.

Check the valve covers and cam seals first. It's rare for a head gasket to let go.

back valve cover gasket was shot so ordered a new one, ill just deal with the alternator issue for now till im not as broke

just replaced the valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, intake gasket and now it will idle bad for like 10 seconds then ****... Checked the vac lines and didnt see any missing... i just dont know any more

Definitly check for intake manifold air leaks. A small gap can make the car act just like you describe

got it running right again, ended up being a vac line even though i though i checked them all.
But back to the climate control issue, I know its probably a huge possibility that its the alternator but what confuses me is that i had the auto lights thing on and as soon as it got to be bright enough and my lights shut off the heater stopped working too. It jsut doesnt really make sense to me that when theres more things like lights also drawing power but when the lights are off it doesnt have enough power for the climate control to work.

had the EXACT same thing happening to me about 4 months ago. i replaced the battery hoping just that.... wasn't ended up replacing the alt to.... has been running great since!

mine just started to do that for like 3 days, i cleaned up the battery terminals and tightened stuff up etc, gave the battery i charge over night havent had any issues, been like a week
