That looks like oil under the car, did the pan get punched? That is a lot of damage with the rad support, etc. How fast was the impact?

Deer are stupid animals. I hit one with my 92 once (and in my toyota recently)

Bill my car is fine its just the jetta, Matt was borrowing it when he was getting tranny work done on his car and him and Alex were teaching a girl how to drive a stick. But apparently when there is 3 peddles on the floor one does not know how to turn or use the brakes. So this girl managed to mow over a couple steel fence post at a local school around here and did some front end damage. but the car has already been thru **** and back its got 195,000 miles on it and no reverse gear. I just talk to mat earlier and he is probably just going to buy the car form me and put a radiator and some head lights in it and call it good.

Is that motor oil pooling under the front of the car. By the looks of the deer it must have rolled under the car. Hopefully theres no major damage to the bottom end of the motor. Just remember anything can be fixed with enough patients.

It's probably leaking from the oil filter getting smashed by the radiator fan motor.

I went and looked at his car during lunch and he has a hole in the front valve cover. It looks to be where part of the ac system smashed into it!

My guess from the damage is he was cookin' right along.

Glad you were able to reel the car in and get it under control, could've been alot worse.

And Alex, with all the bad luck you bring to an SHO when you touch it, stay far, far away from mine if you come to the Convention.

Oh Deer!
Just got done cleaning the garage. Just got done removing the oils spots from the driveway. City just got done resurfacing the street.
Now I have blue parts in the garage. Driveway is ok so far. The new street has been christened by a Ford.
The picture don't do the damage justice. It is pretty bad. The front emblem is embedded in the radiator, guts on the intake, fur everywhere.
It is amazing the boys are ok.

Ehhh, a little time with a buffer for the car and some bactine for the deer and everything'll be great again...


Seriously though, glad to see there were no human injuries to speak of. It definitely sucks to see such a special car take a hit like that, but it is, after all, just a car and maybe it helped a bit in keeping you guys safe inside.

And I'm wondering too, how fast were you moving? I've seen my share of deer hits, and none of them at highway speeds sheered the hood off the car!

A friend of mine hit one in his ranger, the ranger wasnt hurt however when the cop showed up he asked him if he could take it home with him. Later on that night i met up with him and a couple friends as they skinned it, cut and fried up the backstraps on a woodburning stove. It was quite an expierence.

WOW!! A friend of my son's dad.. (did you get that? HaHa) was in his sho, it was a GenII green MTX and hit a deer on I-70 outside of Topeka, KS around 2002. He hit a huge buck, the buck came up after the hit and went through the windshield and killed him, and seriously messed up his wife. She had to go through numerous surgeries to correct her face. Sorry to hear about your car, thankfully no one was hurt... rebuild it, I saw you post this and my heart skipped a beat, love you car man. Bring her back more beautiful

The reason the hood ripped off is because it was a fiberglass plus hood, and it was lightened. Had the hood latch removed and had hood pins holding it down. That's why that ripped off. I was doing about 60 mph when I hit and I didn't even see the deer before it hit, so I had no time to slow down or react. Luckily, the airbag was remover (replaced with a racing wheel), so I didn't have to worry about airbag dust clouding my view while I tried to keep the car on the road. And yeah, nobody (besides the deer) was hurt at all. Alex was just a little scared . I was/am ALOT ****** off. Still plan on fixing it though . Oh, and the oil is all leaking out because the radiator smashed up the filter (plus it was a dual-core radiator).

We were doing about 55-60. Yeah I'm not gonna lie I almost ****** my pants. Doing 360's when you have no control over it isn't fun. I must say, Matt is a **** of a driver to keep the car on the road. When we hit it, coolant sprayed EVERYWHERE on the windshield, we started spinning, and he knew where we were the whole time.

Yeah, the reason we started spinning (after thinking about it more) is cause when we hit, the car shut down. I immediatly slammed on the brakes (car not running = no power brakes or ABS) so they locked up. All that mixed with the wheels turning at all makes for one **** of a wake up call...
