Just finished installing new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and cleaned the intake manifold. Put everything back together as I have in the past, double checking that everything was reconnected properly and fired her up. Sounds like the exhaust manifold gasket is bad?? Even getting exhaust gas in the interior and there was an oil leak under the car. Any ideas?

Does your car have an EGR? The pipe that goes from the EGR to the exhaust manifold can be easily broken.

That could be it but would that create an oil leak? I got under the car and the oil is coming form somewhere on the rear bank of cylinders.

rolled valve cover gasket likey he say ^ causing the oil leak.

Exhaust gasket sound could be a poorly sealing intake gasket OR something fell down into a cylinder when you removed the sparkplugs.

Smoke from the oil dripping on the exhaust manifold is being sucked into the fresh-air intake for the cabin air, usually caused by an open hood or bad firewall seal.

Maybe.
