Hello
Just need some in put. My sub frame bushings went a couple of days ago, steering got really hard. I put some used bushing in for now they are still in very good shape Using just for now. I wanted to see if the steering came back but it didn't. If the car is off the wheels turn okay (a little bit of wierd feeling but they turn) when the car is running the wheel is hard to turn. If I turn it all the way to the left it goes easy but turning it back is hard sometime if I am turning it back striaght from the left and let go of the wheel it will spin back to the left, but wheel is hard to turn in either direction. Any ides what is wrong? I don't see any thing bent at first glance. I did notice if I am looking under dash while turning wheel the boot that cover th steering shaft moves as if something warped never in my life looked at that before so it might be normal. Never really messed with any steering componets before. Please if you guys can tell me anything it would much appriciated..

It's quite possible that something warped when the subframe let go. Either that, or the pump let go a seal or two due to the strain. It sounds like it's new rack time for you :frown:.

I think so??????????????? All I did was let the sub-frame down put the bushing togather and then jack the sub fram back up and tighten the 2 bolts.. not really sure if it was all alighned right..lol (it looks right)is it possible that the piece connecting the coloum to the rack got bent???? I never fooled around with steering..thats the one thing that never really gave me problems in any of my cars besides ball joint on my 96 bronco....hawkeye18 I think your right I hope it isn't to hard to do...damn this stinks.....

There is a hole just aft of the FRONT bushings. Looking up from the ground, you should be able to put a tire iron in that hole and then through the unibody. If your subframe is not aligned properly, your steering WILL bind.
Check this link for picture and procedure.
