today my 89 sho started making a new noise. the noise happens when i slow down (in gear) and when im shifting. it dosnt make the sound when its at idle, cruise, and aceleration. if im moving and i put in the clutch i can hear is slowing down, as the trans stops spinning, but if i put it 1st right before i stop the sound stops with the clutch still depressed. it sounds like a clunking slow grind, my guess is that its the TOB, which sounds like a huge job. BTW i had my clutch replaced about 15k miles ago, currently the car has 90k miles. ill have to check my recipt to see if it was replaced then, most liky its wasn't. but it might not be the TOb. last week i replaced the water pump but i dont know what that would have to do with this. help guys

i tried pulling on the clutch, the sound is still there, that might have helped though. i also checked for codes, but didnt find any. i havn't been driving the sho, only to test it, but how long can one drive on a broken TOB?

Is it a very very faint scraping noise? I had a sound like that, and it went away when I pushed the clutch petal in. This was after installing a new OEM clutch.

As for the TOB, it is the upgraded unit, correct? I don't tihnk you can get ahold of the older ones easily anymore anyways, but just a thought.

Let's see who else can chime in on this one.
