Backup Camera will not turn off after leaving reverse

This morning when I backed out of my drive and put the transmission in drive, I noticed that I still had my backup camera showing in the navigation screen.
I drove a block, stopped and turned the engine off and restarted. The rearview camera still was on the screen. I restarted the engine twice more and it still was showing the camera in drive. At this point I went ahead and drove to the store (about 3 miles). At the store I tried to restart the engine a couple more times, but still had the camera showing in park, drive and any transmission setting. I also could not manually bring up the Navigation screen or the radio screen or any other display.

After I came out of the store and restarted the car, everything was back to normal.

This is the first time this has happen to me. I have had the car for 14 months with about 7500 miles.

Has anyone else heard of this problem before?

My guess is that the transmission range sensor isn't working correctly.

I would guess the TRS as well. Some others have had issues with their TRS on this forum and it seems to make sense. Did you happen to notice what the gear display showed in the instrument cluster?

Typically when I back up I'll shift to neutral prior to stopping, then shift to drive. I've noticed several times that when I shift from reverse to neutral the backup camera will remain on until I come to a stop, but it's always gone back to the default screen when I'm in drive and start moving forward.
