PM by clicking on their user name above their post...and I don't believe we have a live chat feature.

LOL, where have you been? We've had live chat for a few years now.

Hey Alex! Did you figure out the PM function? If not I can give you a little instruction. :thumb:

Didn't meant to take offence

Ya I didn't mean to jump the SHOgun so to speak. It was 2AM and I haven't been getting the sleep I should so I guess I kinda went off on a tangent. I would like to mention one more thing with a cooler head. As far a a ricer is concerned... We are all ricers. Everyone here has seen The Fast and the Furious and I don't know about you but I sat there and said Should have have done an SHO. All you have to do is pop the hood and the first thing you should see is Yamaha... HHHMMM....that name just screams white Anglo Saxon American doesn't it? For those that don't know it is Japanese. They eat a lot of rice hence the name Ricer. Whether we want to admit it or not the heart and sole of these cars is rice related. If you know the history of that heart and sole you know that the SHO motor was slated for a next gen Toyota Supra project....which as you know holds it's own litany of rice eating. Toyota scrapped the idea and Ford scooped them up because by that time the price had dropped so much you couldn't walk away from them. I hate to bring people down but that is the true history and like it or not ricers we are. I might have gotten the ricer comment because of the murals... that didn't come from ricers. Mexican low riders are where that started in the 60's and 70's before ricing was even a pipe dream. I know I am dating myself here a bit but oh well. I don't want to be a history teacher but I don't want to lose my history either. Always know where you came from it's just better that way.

Trust me I have been defending my sexuality long before now on me liking the color purple so it really isn't that big of a deal.

That's some funny stuff right there! I think you'll fit in just fine... :)

Sounds like you're going to a lot of work to build the car, and personally I think you're right, you have to make it personal and do what YOU like.

The colors don't sound half bad, maybe the murals are a little over the top though? Again, whatever you like is what you should do.

So true Bob, to each his own and damn anyone who doesn't like it because their opinion really doesn't matter when it all boils down to it.

Anybody remember the Barney car? That...was a beautiful car! I still have pics of it somewhere on my computer. I'll have to see if I can dig them out. :thumb:

The block was actually developed by Yamaha for Ford using the Duratec V6 block as a base. It was meant for a Mid engined sports car named the GN-34 that was to compete with the mid-engined Corvette that the General was hinting at. Both projects were dropped and Ford had alot of engines ordered from Yamaha so they stuck them in the Taurus.
That's how I see it anyway.

Oh, and ricer was coined by harley guys as a name for the Import bikes...it slowly drifter to the car scene to describe a vehicle (usually asian) that had many modifications to make it look faster, none of which did anything performance wise...the term has now drifter to the Computer gaming world...

ok...

Wow 2 versions of the same story... I wasn't aware of your history. I suppose it is possible. I got my info from a Ford Mechanic but he could have been wrong. I appreciate that you didn't jump down my throat if I am wrong and I am willing to say I could be. I will have to delve further now because that is the first I have heard that. I would like to find the the true linage of the SHO motor. As for Ricer... Me being 28 I know what my friends and I would say when a Neon with a stainless steel glass pack would drive by. "Take it off the rice diet and feed it some beef" That meant Asians are known to eat rice and therefore sound like that where as American mussel cars have the deeper tone and because Americans eat beef. yatta yatta yatta you get where I am going with that. Thank you for correcting me on the Ricer thing. Like I said I will have to look further into the motor though I won't roll over on that one all the way although you could be right in the end.

The Duratech was not around when the SHO V6 was developed. Perhaps you are thinking of the V8 SHO engine which was a derivative of the 2.5L V6 Duratech.

I Just can't stop laughing, ...mussel car, I got my info from a Ford mechanic but he might be wrong, drifting a SHO fwd in a movie, Asian people eat rice, oh, and Mexican low riders were not the first to customize a car.
Welcome to the club, and I mean that, we're alot of fun, just relax and read all that is here before you spread false info and get taped to a light pole or something. (see carlisle 2 am photos from last Sat. night.)
Do whatever you want to you're car, it's your blank canvas, just be ready for opinions, there's lots around here, but less than big ego clubs, it's a Taurus.

I stand corrected...wasn't it the Vulcan block then? I may be wrong but I thought my SHO history was pretty good.

You're wrong. Ford shipped Yamaha a vulcan block to see what could be done with it, and the little japanese people did what they do best with OHV blocks...tossed the damn thing in a dumpster and used their own DOHC design.

Hey Axledude, my email addy's [email protected] if you wanna just send them pics. I'll host em and post em...but fair warning...you give me a virus, I'll find out where you live and unleash a rabid wolverine in your underwear drawer......:ohreally:

Yeah, but it's still based off the Vulcan though. :thumb:

I think the paint would be nice, depending on the darkness of the purple. The stripes, eh... maybe, if they were done right and not too flashy. Neons.... NEXT!.... Wing? eh... whatever floats your boat.

Sounds like you have a nice car... don't buy all of the AutoZone accessories.

OK I get it PICS you want PICS

I will take pre-molested pics of my 92 SHO tomorrow. I will try to post if I can't.... I will e-mail them off and then you can pester him for the pic and it is out of my control :p My budget has changed a bit the paint job might just not be unveiled until the 09 convention at this rate. Plans now are to make it the best I can in red:oops::shappens: That means get matching handles and mirrors even though my car should have mirrors already because it isn't a plus. Also want to get the center council from a 93-95 installed as well as make a shifter and boot. I really like the plate, ****, and boot that someone made and posted in Gen 1 and 2 cosmetic upgrades with the green lighting. I could only dream of having mine come out that good, but I have been known to have a bit of creativeness on interior so it might be ok. I just got my last Slicer that I needed to complete a directional set. I think I will mount directional Good Year assurance triple tread with the 80,000 mile warranty on the slicers. If you haven't seen the tires they look sweet. Pics tomorrow if not posted I explained why and apologize in advance if they don't make it up tomorrow as well.
