I noticed i was leaking some tranny fluid the other day and i took it to get looked at. they told me that me axle seal was bad and needed replaced. the only problem im running into is they tell me they dont make it and more. is that true? and if so how can i fix this problem.

If its the outboard (drivers side) seal you can use the new design one spec'ed for the 99-03 Windstar. It is a much better seal, better protected from road debris and 3 total sealing surfaces compared to 2 on the old one.

Hope its not your diff pin going out and rubbing a hole in the trans case . . . .

Also, it can look like an axle seal leak, but the speedo (VSS sensor) O rings can age and leak on the passenger (inboard) side.

I just used axle seals from the axod-e and took the outer metal part off. Works perfectly! Also same as ax4s and ax4n IIRC...
