I have an 89' MTX. I recently blewout the passenger outter cv joint. All part stores say they can only get one for a manual with abs. Did all years my car come with abs? And im looking to do exhaust soon. Throw me some input on the best sounding setup please

I would look in the yellow pages for a driveshaft shop. They should be able to replace the joints in your half-shafts. I would guess there are more links about exhaust sounds than opinions; i.e. thousands. In fact two threads have been opened recently. I recommend you do a little searching about exhaust.

Only difference in the axles with the ABS and with out is the ABS rings. I don't think you would have an issue using one for and ABS car.

No issue at all! I just put new half-shafts with ABS rings on my 89.

yep, they are all the same. If it'll make you feel better, you can knock the abs ring off. It is much much cheaper to just buy the whole shaft reman. Should be able to get one under $60 for sure

I got lifetime replacement axles from CarQuest for both of my '89s without any problem. Direct replacements, non-abs units. :wave:

I went to advanced auto to look for the part...and a little online. Advanced can get on for like 60. Thanks for the help. Im debating wether to fix the car or not. Atleast right now. It needs all new exhaust. Front brakes. Ball joints. cv joints. I dunno. Prolly just gonna pick up a 4 banger beater for now and make the sho my project. What would you guys do?
