automatic transmission question

I have a atx tranny out of the car. Torque converter has not been removed. My question is. There is a little bit of fluid that has leaked out from behind the torque converter while it's been sitting there for a couple of weeks. I am installing it in a car this weekend. Is this normal for it to weep a bit because it's not connected to the motor or is there a seal behind the torque converter that needs to be replaced

Nope. It likely means the torque converter is not fully engaged on the pump shaft and stator support. A little wiggling and pushing should make it clunk into place, but for a used tranny, I'd pull the converter, replace the $7 seal, and make sure the snout of the converter doesn't have a groove worn into it from the seal.
