I'd be interested to know if there is anyone doing much autocross with their SHO. Specifically, what kind of success you're having and with what setup.

I have an '89 with eibachs, tokikos, fr. and rear strut tower braces, and urethane bushings. Also have a quaife and centreforce clutch and the SHO Shop 9 lb. vortech setup. I use Kumho Victoracers just for track events. I like the blower because I don't have to rev the crap out of it in first gear all the time.

The car is heavy and limited by its front drive configuration. I do all right against other heavy rides like mustangs and corvettes, but can't really compete with the light fast imports.

Bob, NJSHO autocrosses pretty regularly. I do not know his success rate, but I am sure he will chime in. Are you on nwshoc.org yet? If not, you should join up. You will be the fifth supercharged SHO on the mailing list. We have a pretty strong B.C. membership.

I have autoxed a few times (and love it), but my success isn't that great. Well I guess it depends on how you look at it, most of the cars in my class that I’m going against are smaller and lighter (i.e. modded SER-V's and Mini Cooper S's) and I’m finishing after them but by not that much, in one case by .071. I’m still learning from my mistakes and how to run my new setup of quaife/22mm FSB, and by the end of the season I will move up. One problem with having a modded SHO is that you really don’t gain all that much compared to other cars w/ similar mods but you get bumped up in the classes (and out gunned.) In fact when I get sub frame connectors installed this week I'll be bumped up to Street Mod class which has many STI's, M3's and the such.
I think the one thing that would help the most would be weight loss. I have moved my battery to the trunk and just put on a plus hood. After I get the A/C out with Hack's bracket that will be a fair amt. of weight removed from over the front tires where it counts the most.
Overall though its fun and even if I lose every race and take out an entire course of cones I'll keep doing it. If you want to talk to someone who has more success talk to FAST4DR on the forum here.
Here are some vids to enjoy (all will be reposts, but I don’t think many saw them to begin with)

Just happens to be the class, but I agree on the overweight part.

The single best improvement for me was the tires. Those Kumho race tires really stick ...... dropped about 3 to 4 seconds off my times on a typical 60 second course. I'm in D Mod, so there is no way to beat the stuff in that class - but it sure is fun!!
