Hello All!

Proud to say Ive been the owner of a 1994 SHO ATX with 61K miles on it for 1 1/2 months now..and I love the car in all aspects..Got a decent deal on it and couldnt pass up the offer...

I have a question tho to an issue which concerns me...

The Auto Transmission seems to have an issue where it shifts very hard (feels like a shift kit) under light throttle from 1st to 2nd gear (anywhere from 2500rpms to 3000rpms)..It also slips going from 2nd to 3rd under heavy or full throttle (sounds like its trying to grab the next gear but cannot immediately, this sounding like its slipping..once it gets into gear its fine)....The problems noticeably come into play when the car is at normal operating temperature...

The weird thing about all of this is, other than those 2 issues...the transmissions seems to work fine! Ive had the Auto Transmission fluid changed immediately after purchasing the vehicle thinking that might be the issue, but it didnt help...

I just recently took it back to the dealership and had them take a look at it (under warranty)...needless to say I was a bit dissapointed and frustrated when I saw the paperwork saying "No Problems Found" about the transmission...

So.....
Im thinking of taking it to another dealership to have them look at it, but before I go and spend 100$ on the deductible for the warranty work, I just wanna make sure that it might not be something else thats causing the issues...

Thanks Guys!

This is a norm for the SHO ATX. Everyone has this problem. I had mine rebuilt about three months ago and it recieved all the ford updates and still can shift hard espeacialy during the warm up to operating temp.

This may just be a one case scenario of just me, but my Throttle Position sensor was from a manual 3.0 car and not the 3.2 and that was throwing off my shifts. I just changed it and after a little bit of driving its doing much better. The first 4 characters on the part were 1 number off.

Also I have a whistle coming from the rear of my engine, is that normal, a vacuum leak, or an exhaust leak? I can hear it from inside the car with the windows down.

I get the same thing, it's a whistle when I let the engine brake at around 10 mph in first.. I think it's a whistle through the throttle body but I'm not sure, could be a vacuum leak.

I had the same problem on both my sho's that i've owned . They tryed to pull the same bull*%@$ on me
I told the dealer that if the car shifted like this when it was brand new , nobody would of bought one . I went on test drives with service managers and showed them the problem , they replaced the tranny on both my cars . The car shifted mint after replacement...
