Occasionally when driving at maybe 40 mph and I mash the throttle, there is a a second or so delay before the throttle engages i.e. the accelerator is rapidly depressed and the engine doesn't respond immediately. It almost feels like the power has been cut from its existing state and then starts up again .

Very odd intermittent issue . It's off to the dealer I go but wondered if anyone else has experienced this behavior?

Is it NO response, or loss of power? If it's no response, both my 2013 and 2016 occasionally did that, but usually in a turn. If I do a complete "all traction control/stability control off" with my traction control button (available only on the PP) it seems to mitigate it.

That was one of the reasons someone used Forscan to twiddle the PP bits on a non-PP car.

In retrospect I believe it's more of a 'no response' than loss of total power . Seems like an eternity when it happens .

Interesting that you have experienced it on two different model years which makes me think it's an unresolved bug since its not possible to replicate the issue . Did you try to have the dealer resolve it?

I did try on my 2013, I described the condition in full, including how exactly to get it to happen: Doing about 30, take a turn, even a mild one. Let off the gas, hit it again, and it takes a few seconds to "come alive".

Their response: "Couldn't duplicate issue". I doubt they even road tested it.

I think it's got something to do with the stability control. The computer plays "nanny" too much and won't let you apply a lot of throttle in a turn.

Do any of these conditions describe your issue?

It happens at about the same speed as yours but not coming out of a turn I don't believe. I'm going to perform the steps you've outlined to see if I can replicate it . I hope I can so that I know it's normal stability stuff happening and not an issue with this specific car.

I have pp too and it sure is nice to be a able to turn this stuff off .

Thank you for the help .

I believe it is the stability control and have experienced it occasionally when coming off then quickly back on the throttle. As mentioned doesn't seem to happen when turned off.

This is more comforting to see others with the issue . The worry always is an issue that can never be resolved because it's occurance is so intermittent .

This is exactly what I have experienced. Let off going into a tight turn, go to get on it again on the way out, and it just sits there...

perfectly normal in that situation. or if you are at a stop and you turn/accelerate hard simultaneously. Not necessary to be already driving to see this happen.

first time it happens, believe me, EVERYone freaks out. What would be interesting is to have it happen to a bunch of people all at the same time, in the same place, LOL. Great group photo opp :D

Same "oh s**t" feeling when you load the 3bar tune but forget to actually install the 3bar. You find out how much alike the SHO dash is to an airplane cockpit LOL.

I’ve experienced this also, only when mashing the throttle, usually coming out of a turn and turbos not supplying any boost. Usually rolling the throttle to WOT a little slower stopped it from falling on its face. I just chalked it up to all nanny parameters and turbos needing time to spoil.

It happens often to me when I go to pass a car or in traffic to get in front of the other lane. Could be going 20-30 mph and slight turn to get into other lane and depress accelerator and just sits there for a couple seconds before kicking in and down shifting to lower gear. Glad its not just my 2016 non PP.

OK I did some testing on the weekend and indeed you can replicate the problem based on the krewat's instruction . Guess it's normal unfortunately. So glad I have a pp to turn the culprit completely off .

I have a slightly different problem on my 2015 PP. It mostly happens at low speeds (e.g. at throttle tip-in). The rev's will initially increase to about 2K, then drop. Feels like the car has stalled, although the engine is still running. After a second or two, the car begins to accelerate. It has increased over the approximately 1-1/4 years I have had the car. At first, was very intermittent, which is why I didn't take it to the dealer. But it has increased with frequency to where I now feel that if the dealer actually drove the car, they would feel it also. Could it be the torque converter?

That sounds like a solenoid or something is hanging up. Definitely take it in.

The stability control system has done this for years in Fords. Our 2012 Mustang does the same thing. I think the accelometers sense a yawing motion and backs the power way off to keep you from rotating. The first thing I do when I drive the Mustang is disable advancetrac completely. I like to do fishtail burnouts. Lol. I wish I had the disable button in the SHO like you PP guys.

I believe it is the advanced trac nanny shit, I have a PP so I never experienced it with the crap off. That being said I noticed it ALOT more when I have UHP all seasons on the car. Once changed over to Gmax summers, it has not done it even now in the winter, still with the summers on.....
