i realize this was posted in the upgrade section also, but nobody responded, so i thought i'd post it where many people look

i have an alpine deck similar to the one pictured here :
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...in55/pic-1.jpg

i got a used 6-disc changer, also alpine
i have a few problems, however.

i got the changer bolted into the trunk
ran the wire from the changer through to the front end of the center console

now i have a silver box with 8 or so wires coming out
2 go to antennas, those are easy
one comes from the changer, also easy
then i have one going to the display thing - again, easy
i have a power, switched power, and ground - yet again, easy

now the hard part :
i have a purple wire, labeled "control" i have no idea where it goes or what it does
it was taped in with the ground and power wires, but was cut REALLY far back
any ideas?

next : the display has an Infra-red spot, and no controls... do i need a remote?
or if i wire the purple wire into the deck, would i be able to change discs and such with that?
i really know nothing about audio wiring, so any help is appreciated

P.S. if i do need a remote, anyone know how i could get my hands on one? or where i'd get my hands on one?

First off the pic didn't work so I'm not sure what deck you are using...

Second it's ok to have some leftover wires. For instance the purple one might be a cell mute or an amp turnon control wire.. The CD changer is controlled through the round plug..

As for the "do I need the remote" I don't know because I don't know the model. However if it's the type where it hides it's face then just push around on the cd player and it'll turn on and flip around. The reason for this is that when you install a deck and power up the car the deck will still be in off mode... If it's not the flip around type just hit the power button and it should turn on.
