No volume problem with GenII,JBL and CD. Have tried two radios, two CD's and 3 "tested good" amps. Volume controls register on radio display, and CD works but only very faint sound. Logic tells me no power to amp, but where do I look. Is there an aftermarket amp that will work, finding good used ones is iffy. Any help is appreciated. Dave

I doubt there will be a plug-and-play aftermarket amp, but you can get a decent 4 channel that will step up your SQ. I'm not sure how the fusing works, maybe the amp and deck use separate fuses? I do believe if the amp wasn't getting power you would get no sound at all. Hope that helps. -Joe

I do believe IIRC that there is a thing that you plug into the back of the CD player...basically a jumper...that is used. Without this plug, the output is not amplied by the amps and thus very very quiet (aka, can barely hear when you turn up all the way). When you insert the special jumper, the amps kick in and works as normal.

This jumper is on the back of the CD player.
