I was driving the other day. I passed someone and when i stomped it, i pushed the floor mat on the gas pedal, the pedal got stuck! I jammed the brakes on and blew 2 brake lines heading straight for another vehicle, i turned the wheel and threw the car in park (by accident)meant to shift to neutral and shut the car off, brought the car to the shop and had the brake lines repaired, the next day i started the car to find tranny fluid ******* out of a rectangle like hole on the tranny, but the car ran, drove and shifted perfect.. The repair shop said it was the front pump seal in the tranny. I called 2 tranny shops to find out how much $550 and $600 for a front pump seal??? Really!!! Does this sound right???? Any repair shops in Massachusetts that will do this job much cheaper than that????? Please respond soon.
Thanks a lot.

I don't know where the part is without a picture, but I'd bet that price is including the labor to remove the trans.

Given the going rate for most shops these days and considering the fact that the tranny has to be at least partially removed to get at the front pump seal, then I'd have to say that you were quoted a pretty good price.

Not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure... :)

How many miles are on your tranny? Depending on it's shape you might consider putting some money in it (ie. rebuild), instead of a simple seal.

Adam, how is the SHO? Back on the road? Haven't seen you around in awhile.

Thanks guys. Subframe and tranny removal according to the tranny guy. The car runs, drives and shifts perfect. I had it towed to his shop last night. I'll let you know.
And as always, Thanks so much.
