I have a 1993 SHO with 166K miles on it. There has not been any work done on the
transmission since day one. Only normal changes in the fluid. My SHO runs fine with the
exception that it appears that recently it has become slow in the 3rd to 2nd down shift. Also,
once it would not shift up to 3rd. For a short time I was tacking 5K when running 70 MPH.
This went away after sitting for the night. I have had the transmission codes checked and
found no problem and there was no gunk in the pan. With the exception of the slow
downshift there in no other problem. No slipping. Anyone have any suggestions of what
may be going wrong?
Also, does the transmission have to be pulled to get at the three shift solenoids? To get to
them the driver side cover on the transmission needs to be removed. I am thinking that
these solenoids may be wearing and sticking.
