Is there any way to increase the pressure on this trans with just dropping the pan to firm up shifts?
Or any other ideas on fiming shift without removing trans.

does the shift kit for this trans require it to be removed?

would a chip work?

thanks

The main line pressure cannot be increased. You don't want to....

The EPC line pressure can be increased by many of the PCM add-ons including by a simple switch/resistor mod. The incorrect schematic was floating around last winter/spring.

The transmission must be removed and almost completely disassembled to install a shift kit.

anoyone know about the switch/resistor mod, is it easy, should i just chip it?

will superchip work or stick with lpm.

this should probably be under performance, sorry.

thanks

Actually, since the EPC solenoid (which is controled by the PCM) influences and/or controls almost all of the hydraulic circuits within the transmission, it is technically possible to modify primary line pressure with the right modifications to the PCM code. As you pointed out, though, this type of modification is usually not desirable.

While the popular "switch/resistor mod" might be easy to construct for someone with basic electrical knowledge, and while the modification may even work as advertised, it does not modify shift firmness in a manner prescribed by the factory engineers. In order to safely and properly adjust your tranny's shifting firmness, you should directly modify the PCM with a chip or tuner utilizing the proper code modifications. For more information on this entire topic, hop on over to the thread that Steve referenced above, which has recently been updated with the correct schematic and other additional EPC-related information:
