Hello all, I’m not currently a SHO owner but I’m in the market for one but I have severely limited my options by wanting not only a DA but one with massaging seats. I’ve passed up several reasonably priced low mile 2018’s because they didn’t offer massaging seats, however one is coming up in my area and I know the F150 folks have added multi-contour seats by adding the bladders, seat modules and wiring and a little flashing with FORScan. My question- is there any known differences that would prevent the same thing from being possible with a 2018 even though multi contour wasn’t offered that year?

It can probably be done as you describe. However it sounds like a costly solution.
I have the multi contoured in my explorer ST and I thought they would be awesome. They're ok, but I could live without them. My commute is 5 miles most days. So my needs may vary from yours.
I had 13 PP w/o multi contoured. Loved it. Now I have a 19 PP. Its fun.

I wasn't trying to imply F150 gear would work in a Taurus, just the process.

We have them in my wife’s explorer platinum and had them in our f150 platinum when we had it. It’s not the most exciting thing in the world but it’s really nice on the road and I drive about 275mi a week for work hence the desire for DA. All the parts are readily available from ford and even largely available used, taurus specific of course. Cost isn’t really the issue, possibility however is.

Not sure if there are any known 2018 bcm/rpo specific quirks that would make this a non possibility. Of course there’s also the possibility of having to install older modules to get things to jive right and there is a point where too much isn’t worth it.

Definitely inspect wiring diagrams and compare physical cars if possible. I swapped leather seats into my 2015 SE fusion from a 2013 SEL fusion with heated seats, Not only was the provision for the heated seats not there but the sensors for the airbag were different (same plug) but the airbag module couldn't communicate with the seat so now it has a permanent airbag light and no heated seats.

Moral of the story is it doesn't matter how close the cars are in parts, the infostructure might not be there at all. If you're willing to put in the work I'm sure its possible, working your way up the harness until you find common ground and then flash or replace the necessary modules to make everything work. But as has already been said, it seems like a lot of work for one feature. I drive about 350 miles a week and there is the occasion having the massage seats is nice but most days I forget I even have it, I'm also afraid it'll break mid massage and ill have a nice shih tzu pain in the ass so I use it sparingly. Believe me when I say these are drivers cars, you will be comfortable without the massage option, but to each their own.

I checked a few body harness part numbers and they match but it’s hard to say based off of that because they get superseded. I’m a little new to the ford world but is there a common place for factory service manuals?

All data is my go to when I absolutely need it. The last 2 digits in the ford part number are revisions, if they match across the board it should be the same

Poke around with the search function. I think I saw some links that contain factory repair info in another thread not that long ago
