I was going to take off my IMRC box today, and when I tried to "wire" them open, they wouldn't budge.

So, my question is... are they already wired open?

Here are some pictures:

CAUTION: LARGE IMAGES!

As you can see, the wire from the IMRC box is extending passed the "lever". And whenever I try and press down on the IMRC side "lever" (not sure what you call it), it doesn't move.

Weird thing is, if it is wired open, there isn't any "wiring" there.

Thanks for ANYBODY'S help!

Just thought I would note that I just had my upper and lower intake cleaned for Carbon Build-up, WHICH SHOULD HAVE eliviated any "sticking" of the butterflies.

I was able to "close" them. The rear butterflies seem to be "stuck". I had to by my bodyweight on the flathead screwdriver while pressing down on the "lever".

Now I can't get them back open...

What is causing this?

Someone who didn't know what they were doing "cleaned" the intake.

What do you mean? So, should I take it back in and have them redo it all?

From what I understand, they are stuck-open from carbon build-up, am I wrong?

Judging from the looks of the carbon build up in your pictures they didn't do a very good job.

I just had all of my whole intake off including the LIM and sent it all to a shop that used some kind of hot caustic stuff and the parts looked brand new when i got them back. It cost me $50 to do it all. It was well worth it plus I was able to just completely remove the whole secondary setup from my LIM. Well worth the time and money.

What a crappy dealership

If they were clean, they wouldn't be sticking.

Who did this "cleaning" service for you?

Well, sadly enough, it was Ford Dealership. I went in there today and basically bitched them out saying, "Fix it or I'm taking reversing my charges." And they looked like they were about to shit themselves after the 5 minute long conversation.

Funny how you take your car in once and they do a **** of a nice job (me checking it afterwords) and then when you want something just as easy [for them] done, they do a crappy ass job, which looks like they didn't do anything at all.

I think they saw me, an 18 year old, and thought I didn't know a thing about the engine and how to do things. Sad how dealerships are. All for the money and no glory. F on their report card.

It is just as possible that it had nothing to do with you at all. Most dealerships have a number of mechanics, some good, some bad. And the turnover can be high, so the ratio alters all the time. It is quite possible that you just got a good one last time and a bad one this time. If you are going to deal with them regularly, or anyplace you deal with regularly, the trick is to figure out who are the people to go to and then insist on only going to them. Easier at a small place than a really big dealership.
