The chances that you need an oil pump are very slim. They are hard to come by, but they do not go out very often at all. You need to make sure that you are running full of oil. The valve train in the SHO will always be a bit loud, that doesn't mean their is a problem.

I filled it with oil I was only a quart down but it did do anything It's more than just a little noise you can tell there is something wrong but it really sounds like it's coming from the top half of the motor no big knocks as if it were a rod

Timing chain rattle?

If your pump was near death and causing enough flow concerns to create top end noises then I'd think the oil light would come on now and then.

Valve lashing is checking the height that the valves are allowed to travel- Imagine a "T" where the top part is the part that touches the cylinder, and the vertical part is connected to the Cams. (Sort of.)

You can add or remove "shims" which are like discs you put on the vertical part of the "T" to change the height..

I agree, you would see the red or yellow "oil" lights come on if it was an oil issue.
You can pop the oil filler cap off (engine off unless you want to see oil come out!) right after shutting the car off and see if there is oil on the stuff that you see there. That is the "top" of the engine, it's actually a camshaft and the (effectively the bottom side of the "T") assembly that connects to the valves.

Pretty rare an oil pump fails on the SHO. I'd bet more on an ejected shim or failed chain/chain tensioner; if it is coming from the top end. Really hard to diagnose over the internet, though.

I have had my oil cap off repeatedly with the motor at idle, and even with slight blips of the throttle oil does not come out.

You can have the motor running and unscrew the cap to inspect what if any noise changes you can hear, and to observe oil flow.
