Anyone heard of Motormite Freeze plugs?

You guys ever heard of thses freeze plugs? Autozone has them for $8 a pop... of you go to the Dorman website that sells them, they have a better showing of it..

or click this and see the application of the part... lol it's a BIG list, 56k go and make some coffee...Click this....

Do a part number search on this website... for part number: 10230 and you'll see something like this:

*wonders how reliable and restrictive they would be.....

They would work in a pinch. It's not a part you rebuild your engine with, it's a part you "limp by" with. You would probably want to replace them yearly.

rofl you dont need to replace freeze plugs unless they corrode through (almost never unless your coolant is uber acidic and even then you have bigger problems than freeze plugs...)

as for those things i wouldent trust em one bit.

I used brass just so I could have some bling on my motor..

Edit: If someone really wanted to know why... I didnt like how the factory uses steel plugs. Granted, if you use a proper 50 / 50 mix, you'll be fine. If you use any more water than that, your plugs can and probally will rust.. then eventually leak, leaving you stranded.

That was my real reason for using brass... anyone else use brass?

Replace the freeze plugs yearly? I don't think my '95 with 207k have ever been changed.... :zoinks:

I don't think he meant to change "real" freeze plugs yearly. Just those piece of crap "temp" plugs. Those should only be used in an emergency until a real plug can be put in.
