I recently read some good reviews on MTX transmission fluid sold by General Motors for FWD vehicles with manual transmissions. I cannot find any info in the search function so it must have been on a non SHO related web site. I understand Honda S-2000 owners love it. Has anyone tried this product ? I contacted a local GM dealer and was quoted $ 9.91 per quart, GM direct is about $ 5.75 per quart. Must be a synthetic product for that $$$.
Any comments? Thanks, Mike

If I am not mistaken the guys at Redline make it for Tremec for use in their T-56 trans. I believe it is the same or at least very similar to, their D4 ATF synthetic ATF fluid. I had received a couple of gallons of this fluid as a sample and have it in my '95 MTX right now. It has only been in the trany for less than a thousand miles, but it makes the shifts nice and smooth. The 1st gear syncro is still a bit reluctant at times, but overall much better than with the stock Ford Mercon fluid.

I started with Mobil 1 ATF in my rebuilt MTX and it wouldn't shift worth a damn. So I tried the Ford friction modifier and it didn't help. Then I heard about GM synchromesh so I thought I'd give it a shot. Well it worked! She shifts great now.

Be careful when you pick some up though. There are a couple different kinds of GM synchromesh( some have additives and friction modifiers). I believe the proper numbers are:

GM part# 12345349
GM specification# 9985648

Read the labels on the bottle, it should give you some idea of which is the right one.
