Ok this is what I am trying to do this time....
I have two 12" SPL 1200watt speakers in enclosed box and I have an Audiobahn 800watt amp to push them.
I intend to put into my trunk and wire in with a second battery and dual battery isolator. I have chosen to keep the factory set up and built a box to fit so tight it requires 10-12 swift kicks to get it to snug up really deep in the trunk.
Questions:
A) is there any factory RCA type output jacks in the stock CD/Cassette head unit? If so which one do I have to pull?
B) Assuming that there isn't (from above question), what should I use as an audio source for the amp?
I am mildly mechanically inclinded however I have never messed with audio before this. I was just going to splice into the factory sub and make that work..... any thoughts ....ideas?
Yes I know the talk about extra battery and the weight ...... As I'll be driving with a 100+lbs speaker box and about 150lbs in tools weight is not something I have ever worried about before. I also know that I may end up over taxing my alt...how ever it was already replaced and shant be an issue.

ANY thoughts or input will be taken with gratitude!!!

Thank you in advance.

The stock cassette and what ever else you have does not have any rca jacks.

Get a new head unit, and get the wiring harness for it and use the stock 4 channel amp(or if the head unit is of good quality, use the amp bypass, and let the head unit run it).

Anything else you need?

Curses!
I don't want to give up the CD/cassette combo I have...and those combos (after market) are not cheap to come by, even on ebay.
What about just taking the sound source of the Sub and cutting it?
is it running too high a juice to go into my amp?
I don't see that factory sub doing me much good as far as volume anyway???
I won't pull the sub, just cut the two wires going into the side of it....I don't see the idea not working......but after it has been pumped through two factory amps...I don't want to burn up my new one.
As far a the amp bypass ....I have no idea what that means. I am not a audio guru... I just want to put these dang speakers to good use.
I thank you for the advice.
Not an audio question.... but how long is it to change a front motor mount on a 95 ATX? ...I am much more mechaniaclly inclinded to do that kind of stuff. 1 hour...two? I have or have access to any tool out there and heated garage.
Thanks

speaker level input converter

I've never used one before so I cannot vouch for their sound quality. However, I know they make an adjustable speaker level converter that RCA cables can be hooked up to. It seems to me that the easiest thing to do would be to hook this up in the trunk to by splicing into the wires going to the 5 x 7's. I am in the process of installing a new Alpine but am working on making a connector so that I may continue to use the factory buttons. However, I am making the memory button a function button allowing me to change treble, bass, etc settings. I will then use the seek button to advance the CD to the next track and the volume button will continue to have the same function.

In the end I will end up paying someone else to hook it up....I just don't want to damage anything....
Is it possable to pull out just the cassette or just the CD player ....and swap out only half of the factory set up? Like keep the CD Player as a slave....as though it is a CD changer or other AUX unit to the tape? or Vice versa?
And install a new head that takes care of my need for a RCA cable....I am not set on the RCA thing...my amp can have other forms of input but they tend to be the easiest.
