Quick simple question.. The nut that shotimes.com talks about removing to remove the antenna is that chrome piece ON TOP of the fender with notches in it??

Easiest way to remove w/out destroying the appearance of it??? Im just good at trashing things shrug

The top nut is fragile, soft *** metal boink . Use either a custom made tool with notches of appropriate size, snap-ring pliers with the bits well-taped, or Channelocks with jaws well covered with electrical tape. Be careful not to let the latter two slip, or paint damage WILL result. This may require a sturdy grip, and I can't emphasize enough BE CAREFUL and obtain a good purchase on the nut. After this nut and escutcheon are removed, another nut awaits you: have a 14mm thinwall socket. Also search "antenna problems" in this subforum. Good luck thumb

Cover the area with Blue Painters Masking tape. Use a couple of layers so that if you slip the tape should take the damage.

I used a Sears Standard Craftsman 12pt deep socket to remove the lower nut.
