So, I get some gas yesterday, drive home about a mile and when I pull into my alley...and my car just die's. I push it into my driveway and it just cranks and cranks with no signs of even wanting to start. When I turn the key to the on position, I can't hear the pump.

I've been peeking around with the search tool and there is some discussion about whining fuel pumps are on their way out.?.? Mine has been "whining" for about six months now. I was going to take the fuel line off the filter and just crank it and see if fuels flowing...is this the easiest way to test it? Also, has anyone else had their SHO just all of a sudden quit like this?

Before digging into the pump, make sure the impact switch hasn't tripped. It can slowly wiggle out over time and get triggered by relatively small bumps.

In the trunk on the driver's side there is a hole in the wall carpet. Stick a finger down in there, find the button and push down. You might need to wiggle the button while pushing to get it to seat properly.

Another possibility is the small separate ground wire coming off of the battery. If this wire is disconnected or very corroded the computer won't get power which will also **** the battery circuit.

Both of these have bit me in the past.
