Okay, so for those of you that have been following my shows deathwish... lol..

Car overheated, now red oil presure light flickers when the car is under 1000 or so RPM's, only comes on after driving for awhile

Got oil and filter changed, they killed starter

Today I replaced my starter, came on just fine, sounds like a honda now though, high pitch whiny starter.

Oil light issue is not fixed, I've been reading around and saw that it's generally the cause of rod bearings that are going out, when my oil was changed they said there was 0 metals in the oil, no copper at all, is it a possibility that my oil pressure issues are due to something else? hopefully. Could I be losing pressure from elsewhere due to the fact that it was overheated? Some seal maybe?

Thanks.

Could overheating the car **** those? The oil pressure sending unit was replaced about 5 months ago.
It only happens after the car warms up ( 30 minutes of driving ), and while the RPM's are low, if that helps identify the problem at all.

Took it to a shop for a diagnostic, they said found a failed cylinder head gasket, in which the coolant is leaking into my oil, and constantly thinning it, they said the SHO wont last very long and it'd cost like $1700 for them to fix it. I thought it was only a head gasket issue if you had black smoke out the exhaust though?

There are numerous ways that a head gasket can fail. Coolant and oil mixing, coolant leaking, oil leaking or coolant into the cylinders (you would have white smoke out of your tailpipe on this one). How did they determine that there was coolant in the oil? If in fact they are mixing, you would have milky looking oil. How long have you driven it since the overheating/oil change?

The head gasket separates the cooling passages from the oil passages and seals the combustion chamber from both. When they fail it could mean several things.
1. Oil is leaking into the coolant making the coolant and oil look like chocolate milk
2. Coolant is leaking into the oil - same effect
3. Coolant AND/OR oil is leaking into the cylinders, lotsa smoke and oily slimy spark plugs...car wont run for shit.

All scenarios involve removing the head and replacing the gasket at least.
From what I've read, Head Gaskets on SHO's rarely fail...when they do fail, it's usually from overheating.

Get a second opinion or ask them how they came to the Head Gasket conclusion. They should be able to show you what coolant in the oil looks like
(chocolate milk). In a desparate attempt to "will it" into being something else, try an oil change and a coolant flush. If the chocolate milk comes back, its time for a 3.2 swap.

He has an ATX :nut:

OK see that now...still time for a 3.2 swap...a used motor would probably be cheaper than $1700...maybe not after labor charges, but it would be close.

Already got an oil change about 3 days ago, didn't fix the oil light flickering issue, and i found a 95 MTX for $1400 in my area, gonna go take a look at it, and i'll have a whole ATX worth of spare parts...thats the idea anyway.
