I love my 91+, but it has been plauged with brake problems. In the year that I've had it, the E-brake wouldn't stay "on" and would return on it's own, then the cord snapped, I've replaced all 4 calipers, rotors, pads....

I am NOT a mechanic, so these are costly problems for me. shoot

Anyway, the latest in brake woes is this...and it's kinda wierd....

When I step on the brake pedal, sometimes, it wont come back up all the way again, and you can feel the car hanging up until I lift the brake pedal back up with my foot. It's only about an inch or so, but this is a royal PITA in an MTX car, Particularly in bumper-to-bumper rush hour.

Thanx John, I found mention of the problem at shotimes, but not how to fix it. Is the booster a simple DIY type of fix?

I'm not a mechanic, but I'm not a retard either! wink If you or anyone else can shed some light on the "how to", I can manage through it.

Thanx again!

Another thought....

While searching the archives, I read something about a hissing sound when the brakes are applied.

I DEFINATELY hear a WHOOSH shound when I apply the brakes. Also, the brake peddle feels mushy, but if I pump them it firms right up. When I step on it again, WHOOSH, all over again.

Replacing the brake booster is not an easy job. It kinda defines PITA.
