today I put the car on the lift after I balanced and rotated the tires and I looked up and did a double take I have catless down pipes and never knew it. No codes and no tune. Now knowing that this was a former detectives car I’m interested in knowing if police departments use non catted DP. Every day I learn more and more about this car

looks like someone modified, those are either OBX or gen 1 Stainless Works downpipes, you can tell by the front O2 having to be relocated to clear the ptu cooler.

Time to take a peek at the map sensor and check the part number as compared to the one in front of the throttle body. If they are they same, you're tuned. You can also use Torque PRO and an obd dongle to check boost.

that's normal, once you remove it you'll find there isn't even a hole in the manifold for the second screw.

And yes, that is a 3 bar map sensor...

I wish mine came that way! Nice find! Is already being tuned an issue trying to install a new tune if not the same software? I know I had to tune back to stock when I was LMS Tuned and before I could switch to SCT and AJPTurbo. Need to be stock to get strategy ?

Depends on if the tuner masked the strategy or not. Sometimes it's still available and we can just tune over it, and the new handheld just saves the stored tune file as stock. If you have a hook up at the dealership, usually best to use IDS to recover the stock file since we don't know what all was changed in the calibration and sometimes things don't mesh up properly.

Hopefully he doesn't run into an issue with already being tuned, trying to get a new tune.

Can be done, just have to make sure the tuner knows that they need to force a complete calibration and not just the change file that is typically sent out. When Luis did one for Thayne Bader after his HPTuners dyno tune fiasco it took literally 45 minutes to force overwrite the entire PCM.

Damn, that's quick! I figured it could be done, just assumed it would be a huge pain in the ass process.

If I look at the stamp o. The transmission. The code is there on it. When I plug it into FORScan the same code should be there if it’s not then it has been tuned. Unfortunately I can’t get it on a lift to check the transmission for two weeks :( o well at least now I know

Mine would not run or hold idle with tune and 2 bar. Matter of fact it would stumble around and sound so bad it would hurt my feelings...
