annoying rattlles

i am not sure which forum to post this in, but i have 2 annoying rattles. the first rattle cmae after i installed my y pipe. it isn't my y pipe that is ratttling but rather from the cat back but before the muffs. i belive to be the heatshield back there. any idea on how to stop a heatshield rattle. the second rattle is on the inside of the car. it is somehere in the dashboard so i took off the main dashbaord piece (where all the switches are popping out of) and i drove around and is still there. then i thought it could be my ECCU and nope not that. could it be my speedo cable or one of those cables? my second guess is it could be in the defroster vent. this is a 2 person job so i will hopefully have one of my brothers drive my car so i can hear. but do you fellow sho owners ever have experienced the same problems because it is driving me out of my mind. but i need some help

You can try to weld the heat shield back together, or cut it off. I have yet to drive in a Sho that didn't have a damn mouse somewhere in the dash. Solution- turn up your radio. Everytime you think you found the squeak, the mouse will change its location.

I agree with Steve and crank the stereo. While the rattles are annoying beyond belief keep in mind that you are driving a 10-year-old Ford Taurus. Works for me everytime...

It could be worse. You could be in a 10-year-old GM product.

I guess I am lucky. The only rattle I have is with my console. When I can't turn the radio up I just drive with my hand between the console and the passenger seat.

SHO94, just buy a 6-Cell MAG-Lite and stick it there like it is in mine. It'll put all the pressure you need against the console, and people will see that light and not even bother messing with you!

my pop has the same problem with a brand new caddy,,,,,, he just put a golf towel down there,,, no more squeeking

if i cut the heatshield will it to anythign bad for the car? i think this interior rattle may have somethign to do with my steering because i canhear it if i wiggle the steerign wheel. it is a horrid creaking oise that is driving my crazy. no matter how loud the radio is u can still hear it.

maybe if i am lucky the interior rattle will go away, if not i may send it to a mechanic and let them figure it out.
