Hi, Im putting an amp in my SHO. I have looked and looked but am unsure where to bring the wiring in through the firewall. Where is the best place? Behind the glovebox?

Get ready to crawl under the dash...

There's a round grommet for a hole (approx 5/8" hole size) on the firewall near the wiring harness grommet. IF you're looking from the engine compartment, it's located on the far right and down (you can see it better if you remove the under-hood fuse distribution block). Pop the rubber grommet out or poke a hole through it from the passenger compartment. You might have to pull the carpet's insulation pad back to see the hole from inside the car (can't remember if it's visible or not).

When ever i install a System in a SHO with 4 gauge or larger i just run it down the driver side under the car then up the pass rear foot well assuming its a MTX if its a auto theres a gromet where the Clutch would be on a MTX. i have 2 lines of 0 guage running back to the trunk.. i really don't have a choice on my car

I have 4 guage running through the hole I described, as well as two other wires I needed for my digital dash swap. After coming out of the firewall hole I just hooked up to the battery wire (after fusing it of course) on the main fuse block (that I also described). The battery's wire comes right to that point anyways, so I saved myself a few feet by not having to run physically to the battery post. And yes, down the driver's side to the trunk for me as well.

i will try to find where you are talking about tomorrow.

think it will be harder running it on the passenger side? i already have 3 monster RCAs crammed all the way to the trunk on the drivers side

if you have trouble running the power wire down the passenger side then you should at least move your rca's away from the drivers side. if you leave the rca's next to the power wire it promotes crosstalk(it makes for crappy sound quality).

you know that if you have 4 guage hooked up to that fuse box your not getting enough power.. Its 6 gauge thats powering that Box.. If its working for you thats fine but just letting you know.

I have 3 Sets of RCA's running down my passanger side as well as 2 wires for my Sirius Tuner.. Just pull the carpet out put the rca's and such in there put the carpet back under and your done! simple. Ohh make sure you sure good rca's or the Fuel pump wires will induce alternator noise...

I know this. It's fine for me. My amps only require 8 guage as it is. That 3 feet or so of 6 guage isn't going to make that big of a difference in the first place, seeing the remaining 15 feet or so to the trunk is 4. The starter seems to draw 100's of amperes through it's 6 guage just fine. It's not a constant draw, and neither is an amplifier when playing music (which draws fas less amperes). That's just my .02. On an average aftermarket sound system, that draws a maximum of maybe 40 amps tops, that small section of 6 guage isn't going to inhibit anything noticable, or have any abnormal potential for overheating either. I jsut did (any many other have as well) to limit the amount of extra unnecessary wiring around the engine compartment. Plus it's looks nice all tucked away in the corner.

IIRC the wires going to the starter is copper wire and the common power wire in an amp kit is alluminum. the copper wire can carry much more current than aluminum that is why they only use the 6 gauge wire. and the 3' of 6 guage should have no effevt and DJ SHO said it is not a constant draw of electricity
