Well, the hot wire on my alternator snapped off while i was on the road, and my car began to lose battery power. I got the wire under the bolt, but when i came back to change it, it was apparently melted together(i'm sure due to a sorry connection). So, as i "attempted" to take the bolt off, it snapped. My question is, can I simply buy a replacement bolt/stud there, or is it some very unique part that is not available except by buying a new alternator. Thanks fellas..

you should just be able to buy a replacement bolt, but good luck getting the old one out. you might want to bring the pieces along to make sure you get one with the right diameter and thread pitch, but i dont think its a specialty part. let us know how it turns out.

You can try, but the melting makes me suspect that you had a major current problem and may have cooked the alternator. Also verify the integrity of your battery harness before reconnecting anything.
