Okay well I scored a 96 Lincoln Conti rear view mirror at the junkyard today. Has the built in dome lights, as well as the compass. I dont care as much about the compass as I do about the dome lights and dimming. Does anyone have Mitchell on Demand or something of that sort to give me the wiring schematic for the dimming rear view mirror? If so, Id VERY Much appreciate it!
Also got the EATC, so I'm going to be looking around for the write-up on making them work for the SHO.. THanks in advance! :hail:

Most of those mirrors have 3 wires for the dimming feature. Power, Ground and the switched lead that is supposed to hook into the reverse lights so that the mirror un-dims when you switch to reverse. You should be ok just hooking the power and ground up. The sensor will make it dim on its own and the reverse thing isn't that big of a deal.

I bet the dome lights and compass will work also with just those 2 leads hooked up.

yeah Kevin it shouldnt be that hard to wire that thing up...ive heard of some people wiring up to the sunroof wiring but im not exactly sure about it...as far as the EATC..the 96 Linc face will work with the 92 housing...there are some pins that have to be desoldered and resoldered...do a search on here and there is a **** of a write up from a couple of years back about this very thing...i found it when i found a 97 Conti EATC in the boneyard...naturally when i went back to get it where i hid it the car was crushed .....

I am not sure but that particular review mirror might be kinda rare. My Mom had a 96 or 98 Linc that we had to replace the mirror in and it was impossible to find. Might be able to throw it on e-bay and make a buck.

SHO92 is right, you just hook up the power and the ground and then everything works. I have a compass mirror/autodim in my 91 and a compass/autodim/temp mirror in my accord. Simple to install and believe it or not I use the compass feature all the time. The tint in my car kind of helps with the autodim no being a big deal though. Do a search for "gentex" and the model # on the mirror somewhere and it should be documented somewhere. I believe gentex makes almost all of the compass mirrors in existence. Good luck ;)

Yeah I played around with it the other night, and figured it all out. I need to wire in both constant power, as well as power which goes on when the doors open.. That way the small lights work by the switch and also when the door is open.. :) I hooked up power to it with a started box (12V), and the compass calibrated and worked in about 10 seconds! SO, I'll be putting it in soon!

ACE, as far as the newer face workong on the older one, I am looking for that write-up.. I have a 97 lincoln one in mine, but scored this one at the junkyard and want to make another!
Thanks for the info on the mirror, the mirror looks like it has liquid around the edges, but it is the tinting liquid or whatever it is that tints it... As long as I have those courtesy lights and can look in the rear view mirror and see the car begind me, I'll be pleased.. :bonk:
